The UC Center at Sacramento nurtures the ongoing dialogue between the UC and Capitol Communities... promoting excellence in public policy through academics research and public service.
Due to severe budget constraints, the UC Center Sacramento regretfully must suspend its academic program in public policy as of December 31, 2009. No applications will be accepted at this time. Please check this site periodically for updates.
The UC Center Public-Affairs Journalism Program will continue and is accepting applications for the 2010 Summer Session. Students interested in the summer journalism program should contact A.G. Block at ag.block@ucop.edu.
Although UCCS is not accepting applications for its public-policy program at this time, the UC Office of the President is working with campuses to continue the program as soon as possible. Students interested in applying to UCCS in the future should email their names, contact information and semester/quarter they would like to attend to ag.block@ucop.edu. Students who provide this information will be kept abreast of developments so they may plan accordingly.
The UCCS Research Program provides resources to UC students and faculty, visiting scholars, and staff from state offices and the legislature to further their policy research efforts.
Activities include helping researchers network with both expert and technical resources throughout the UC system as well as within the State Capitol. This includes access to the California Digital Library (CDL), a powerful research tool used across UC campuses.
The UCCS Public Service Program provides the Capitol Community an effective way to tap UC expertise.
The program provides California policymakers with short-term technical assistance such as arranging expert witnesses for legislative hearings and briefings on key state issues.
Other activities include sponsoring speakers and roundtables on policy issues and preparing and briefing VIP visitors to the State.
