UC BERKELEY - Registration and Financial Aid for Summer Sessions

UCB Public Affairs Journalism Registration - UC Berkeley students participating in the Summer Public Affairs Journalism Program will register for the class and internship via UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and receive credit through the UCB School of Journalism. Students should complete this registration process as soon as possible after being admitted to, and decided to participate in, the Public Affairs Journalism Program.

1. Go to the UCB Summer Sessions webpage at: http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/registration.html
2. Read the instructions at the top of the page and then click on 'All other students should start here.'
3. Answer 'YES' to the question: ' Are you currently enrolled in or have you been admitted to a degree program at a UC Campus?'
4. Select the correct campus on the next screen and answer the questions on the following screens. You will be directed to register via the familiar TeleBEARS system.
5. You will register for two different classes for the summer:
   1. JOURN 197 - CNN: 53705 for 1 or 2 semester units and P/NP grading option. Keep in mind that UCB students need to enroll in at least 6 units to be eligible for financial aid.
   2. JOURN 298 - CCN: 53710 for 2 to 4 semester units for either the P/NP or Letter grading option.Keep in mind that UCB students need to enroll in at least 6 units to be eligible for financial aid.
6. After entering these two classes, you will also be asked if you have applied for summer sessions financial aid. Answer 'YES' if you plan on applying for summer financial aid, even though you haven't yet. Otherwise, answer 'NO.'
7. Students who answered 'NO' to the Financial Aid question will be billed and need to provide payment for Summer Sessions on the very next page. Students who answered, 'YES' wil be given a due date for the payment of their UCB Summer Sessions fees.
8. The fee for Summer 2009 for students receiving 6 units of credit will be $1650. The cost will be less for students receiving fewer credits.
9. All student will receive a confirmation number immediately after completing registration and a course schedule in approximately two weeks.
10. Students applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid should skip down to the 'UCB Applying for Financial Aid section.

UCB Public Policy Registration - UC Berkeley students participating in the Summer Public Policy Program will register for, and receive credit through, the Public Policy Seminar and Internship via UC Riverside Summer sessions. Students should start this registration process as soon as possible after being admitted to the UCCS Program and absolutely no later than Monday, April 27th.

1. Download, print, and complete the UC Riverside Summer Sessions Application Form.
2. Provide your personal and student status information in Sections 1 and 2.
3. In Section 3, indicate the courses and credits you will be taking while in Sacramento:
   1. Internship - Department = ECON; Course# = 198I; Units = 1-8; 'S/NC or LG' = S/NC. All students will work the same number of hours in their internships regardless of how many units they receive.
   2. Class - Department = ECON; Course# = 175; Units = 4; 'S/NC or LG' = student's choice
   3. Keep in mind that UCD students must be enrolled for at least 6 units to be eligible to receive Financial Aid during the summer.
   4. Consult with your academic advisor if you are not sure how many units you should register for and whether you should take the class for a grade of S/NC (Satisfactory/No Credit).
4. Sign and date the application in section 4.
5. Fax the form to Joaquin Feliciano at 916.445.5536. If you have access to a scanner you can email the document to Joaquin at joaquin.feliciano@ucop.edu.
6. The UCR Summer Sessions staff will complete your registration for you and email your confirmation and Summer Sessions fees directly to you.
7. Students planning on applying for Summer Sessions Financial aid should start the process by following the directions below immediately after receiving registration confirmation.

UCB Applying for Financial Aid - UCB students should start applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid immediately after registering for classes. Financial Aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so it is important that students complete the application as quickly as possible. Applications for aid are being accepted NOW and award offers will start in early April. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 15th.

2. Students need to be registered for classes PRIOR to applying for summer financial aid.
3. For Public Policy students, your financial aid award, if you receive one, will be disbursed directly to your student account and will not automatically be paid to UC Riverside Summer Sessions. You are responsible for making that payment yourself.
4. After they have verified your enrollment, the Financial Aid Office will contact you via email with information on the amount of your award and how to receive it.

UC DAVIS - Registration and Financial Aid for Summer Sessions

UCD Public Affairs Journalism Registration - UC Davis students participating in the Summer Public Affairs Journalism Program will register for the class and internship via UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and receive credit through the UCB School of Journalism. Students should complete this registration process as soon as possible after being admitted to, and decided to participate in, the Public Affairs Journalism Program

Students should start this registration process as soon as possible after being admitted to the UCCS Program and ideally no later than Monday, April 27th if they wish to be competitive for receiving summer financial aid.

1. Download, print, and complete the UC Riverside Summer Sessions Application Form.
2. Provide your personal and student status information in Sections 1 and 2.

UCD Applying for Financial Aid - UCD students may start applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid on Monday, May 4th. Financial Aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so it is important that students complete the application process as close to May 4th as possible.

2. Students need to be registered for classes PRIOR to applying for summer financial aid. Therefore, it behooves you to complete the registration process PRIOR to Monday, May 4th.
3. Your financial aid award, if you receive one, will be disbursed directly to your student account and will not automatically be paid to UC Berekely or UC Riverside Summer Sessions. You are responsible for making that payment yourself.
4. Once you have accepted your award via MyAwards and completed all of the necessary paperwork, your award will be disbursed on Friday, June 12th.

UC IRVINE - Registration and Financial Aid for Summer Sessions

UCLA Applying for Financial Aid - UCLA students should start applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid immediately after registering for their summer sessions classes. Applications for aid are being accepted NOW and must be submitted by Thursday, April 30th to receive priority status. Financial Aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so it is important that students complete the application process as soon as possible.

UCSD Public Affairs Journalism Registration - UC San Diego students participating in the Summer Public Affairs Journalism Program will register for the class via UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and receive credit through the UCB School of Journalism. Participantis will register for the internship through, and receive credit from, the UCSD Academic Internship Program. Students should complete both registration processes as soon aspossible after being admitted to, and decided to participate in, the Public Affairs Journalism Program

1. Registering for the Public Affairs Journalism CLASS:
   1. Go to the UCB Summer Sessions webpage at: http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/registration.html
   2. Read the instructions at the top of the page and then click on 'All other students should start here.'

2. Registering for the Public Affairs Journalism INTERNSHIP
   1. Contact Kerry Shannon your UCSD Campus Coordinator at keshannon@ucsd.edu or 858.534.1708. She will go over the registration procedures and requirement with you.
3. As soon as possible after registering, and if you believe you are eligible, skip down to the 'UCSD Applying for Financial Aid' section below.

UCSD Public Policy Registration - UCSD Public Policy Program students will register for the UCCS Internship via UCSD's Summer Sessions and Academic Internship Program. They will register for the UCCS Public Policy Seminar via UC Riverside Summer Sessions.

1. Registering for the Public Policy Seminar
• Download, print, and complete the UC Riverside Summer Sessions Application Form.
• Provide your personal and student status information in Sections 1 and 2.
• In Section 3, indicate the UCR course and credits you will be taking while in Sacramento:
  1. Class - Department = ECON; Course# = 175; Units = 4; 'S/NC or LG' = student's choice
  2. Keep in mind that UCSD students must be enrolled for at least 8 units to be eligible to receive Financial Aid during the summer.
• Sign and date the application in section 4.
• Fax the form to Joaquin Feliciano at 916.445.5536. If you have access to a scanner you can email the document to Joaquin at joaquin.feliciano@ucop.edu.
• The UCR Summer Sessions staff will complete your registration for you and email your confirmation and Summer Sessions fees directly to you.
• Students planning on applying for Summer Sessions Financial aid should start the process by following the directions below immediately after receiving registration confirmation.
2. Registering for the Internship
   • Contact Kerry Shannon in the Academic Internship Program to obtain the necessary course numbers and registration instructions.

UCSD Applying for Financial Aid - UCSD students should start applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid immediately after registering for classes. Financial Aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so it is important that students complete the application as quickly as possible. Applications for aid are being accepted NOW and the deadline to apply is Friday, 15 May.

2. Students need to be registered for classes PRIOR to applying for summer financial aid.
3. Your financial aid award, if you receive one, will only be automatically applied to your UCSD Summer Sessions fees. You must pay for your Berkeley (Journalism) or Riverside (Public Policy) fees yourself and then be reimbursed from any remaining financial aid award you received.

UC SANTA BARBARA- Registration and Financial Aid for Summer Sessions

UCSB Public Affairs Journalism Registration - UC Santa Barbara students participating in the Summer Public Affairs Journalism Program will register for the class and internship via UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and receive credit through the UCB School of Journalism. Students should complete this registration process as soon aspossible after being admitted to, and decided to participate in, the Public Affairs Journalism Program

1. Go to the UCB Summer Sessions webpage at: http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/registration.html
2. Read the instructions at the top of the page and then click on 'All other students should start here.'
3. Answer 'YES' to the question: ' Are you currently enrolled in or have you been admitted to a degree program at a UC Campus?'
4. Select the correct campus on the next screen.
5. Fill out all of the information on the next two screens.
6. When you get to the class registration screen, enter information for the following two classes:
   1. JOURN 197 - CNN: 53705 for 1 or 2 semester units and P/NP grading option. Keep in mind that UCSB students need to enroll in at least 6 units to be eligible for financial aid.
   2. JOURN 298 - CCN: 53710 for 2 to 4 semester units for either the P/NP or Letter grading option. Keep in mind that UCSB students need to enroll in at least 6 units to be eligible for financial aid.
7. After entering these two classes, you will also be asked if you have applied for summer sessions financial aid. Answer 'YES' if you plan on applying for summer financial aid, even though you haven't yet. Otherwise, answer 'NO.'
8. Students who answered 'NO' to the Financial Aid question will be billed and need to provide payment for Summer Sessions on the very next page. Students who answered, 'YES' wil be given a due date for the payment of their UCB Summer Sessions fees.
9. The fee for Summer 2009 for students receiving 6 units of credit will be $1650. The cost will be less for students receiving fewer credits.
10. All students will receive a confirmation number immediately after completing registration and a course schedule in approximately two weeks.
11. Students applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid should skip down to the 'Applying for Financial Aid section.

UCSB Public Policy Registration - UCSB Public Policy Program students will register for the UCCS Internship and Public Policy Seminar via UCSB Summer Sessions. Contact Nan Anderson in the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities office to obtain the necessary course numbers and registration instructions.

UCSB Applying for Financial Aid - UCSB students should start applying for Summer Sessions Financial Aid immediately after registering for classes. Financial Aid is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so it is important that students complete the application as quickly as possible.
