Partnering to Further Public Policy Research

UCCS's fundamental commitment in the area of research is to further the policy-research efforts of those in the UC community, and to provide California's decision-makers with the best applicable research from UC's vast network of faculty, researchers, students, and laboratories. Because of the scale of the UC system, this means working in partnership -- with the California Policy Research Center, with the Research Office of the UC Office of the President, and with friends and colleagues on all the campuses.

This broad commitment is accompanied by three more specific directives.

  1. UCCS is committed to working in partnership with UC-based researchers to provide research-based insights to policy-makers in Sacramento.

  2. Wherever feasible, UCCS will attempt to link UC faculty and students to staff experts and appointed and elected officials in the executive branch and in the state legislature.

  3. UCCS will also help UC students and facility, visiting scholars, and administration and legislative staff identify the resources they need to further their policy research ideas and projects.

As resources permit, UCCS's staff will help researchers focusing on state-policy-related questions to access both expert and technical resources throughout the UC system, and also expert and technical resources within the State Capitol. UCCS has access to the California Digital Library (CDL), a powerful research tool used across UC campuses, and can make access to CDL available on a selective basis.
